Some people naturally like using their décor to change the feel of a room based on the changing seasons. This doesn’t involve you making any huge changes like getting new furniture or painting your walls, but smaller changes in the decorating that can really make it look like springtime or winter. The following are some easy ways to switch up the décor to reflect the year’s different seasons. Switch up the Slipcovers Changing you décor can be as simple as switching your slipcovers for the season. Darker and richer fabrics like black, velvet or dark green chenille are great for the winter season. The summer and spring call for a lighter fabric and color or pattern. If you want to bring the colors of fall inside, a brown and orange or brown slipcover would work perfectly. Change Furniture Accessories Why not also add or remove some accessories along with changing your furniture’s slipcovers? During the fall and winter months, you can throw heavy throws on the back of couches and chairs and remove them during the spring and summer. You can also change your decorative pillows if you want just like the slipcovers. The look should be dark and heavy during cold seasons, while warm seasons should be kept lighter. Change the Window Treatments Depending on your preferences, allowing more light in or blocking it out during different seasons is something you might want to do. Some people like to use blinds during the summer to keep out sunlight so that it doesn’t warm up the home too much, and they also like to lighten up the window treatments for the opposite reason during winter. Rotate Area Rugs You can also change area rugs for the different seasons as well if you have them. You might even think about simply taking them out during the warmer summer months and sticking with hardwood or tile floor. The winter and fall definitely call for an area rug to warm up the room. Change Up the Small Accessories Having small accessories that can be put out for each season is a really quick and easy way to change your décor. A perfect idea for the summer is putting out vases of fresh flowers and containers filled with seashells. Fall can use something like fake gourds or arrangements of fall flowers in wicker baskets. You can decorate for the holiday season or simply for winter with things like candles and snowmen. New flower arrangements and spring knickknacks for the shelves go great with spring. Even your artwork on the walls can change according to season. You have an arsenal of ways to change the room’s décor for the seasons, you just need some creativity and some research on what fits the situation and season best. A few small changes here and there can make a great difference in the look of a room.
