A Dramatic Amsterdam Loft Conversion!

This dramatic Amsterdam loft was once a sugar factory that was first built in the 18th century. Going against the grain of the designer home this conversion was designed with pure eclectic taste to please both residents. Situated on one of Amsterdam’s main canals it also has a privileged location. The loft is a product of Uxus Design Company who have since 2003 won many awards for their innovative designs in residential, retail, branding, architecture and strategic design solutions. Their clients include the Tate Modern Gallery in London, H&M retail, Proctor and Gamble, Nike, Coca cola and Stella McCartney.  They describe their design methods as ‘Brand Poetry’! The design is in tune with the enchanting surroundings of Amsterdam’s diverse architecture. The beautiful Italian drapes were made by Gottl himself the Chief Creative Director and not only serve the purpose of separating the intimate areas but also bring some rich, rustic charm to each setting. Keeping the 250 m2 open plan layout, these stunning drapes were used to create intimate settings! The drapes create dramatic backdrops throughout the whole interior! There are lots of diverse textures here creating depth and character. The art, sculptures and ceramics bring personal enchanting touches, giving the atmosphere an air of curiosity just like the city itself. Every area has eclectic pieces of furniture and art! The design team at UXUS infuse strategic design solutions with artistic ideas that result in unique projects like this, while managing to balance the sensible side of design with ornate touches. The floorspace is made up of informal and formal areas for every occasion! Unique sculptures and ceramics add character and interest! UXUS was named after the phrase ‘You and Us’ and is headed by American George Anthony Gottl who is Chief Creative Director alongside Oliver John Palmer Michel from France who is also an acclaimed architect. Gottl also owns Relic an interior design store with clients such as The Hilton and The Marriott and was acclaimed in 1998 for designing the World Cup uniforms for the U.S.A and Brazil.  Erika J. Gottl from Cost Rica manages the financial side of the business who’s background is actually in wine. She owned and produced wine at Marus winery in California where she became the 8 th most important new winery voted by the magazine Wine Spectator. Together it seems they form the perfect team, and we feel there is a huge future ahead for UXUS and we look forward to their future projects.
