cool video, recent homeowner in medford ma here.. GO PATS I was wondering how hard is it to purge my heating system, I have a split loop (one circulator pump)My problem is.. i noticed a leak coming down into my basement. now i cant get flow back into my line due to the air. I tried bleeding the air from the high point in my radiator but air comes out then nothing. any help would be awsome!

It sounds like you may have a pressure problem, it may be due to a bad auto feeder.
That leak may be dropping the pressure, and if the autofeeder doesn't replenish the pressure it would give the results you describe (site unseen). Fixing the leak is a priority!
To measure how much pressure you would need measure roughly the height from the boiler floor to the top of said radiator then multiply by .434.
Example Hight*.434 = pressure needed
If H=30 then you would need 13.02#.

I know exactly what U are talking about, I work in a Heating plant in the State Of Florida, for a University, we don't get all that cold here so, I don't see alot of what you have on your video, we also use very little oil fired appliances if so they are rare, in residential homes; only heatpumps. I was trained on it, yess I'm HVAC certified. I work with (Cleverbrooks) steam boilers

Buderus oil boilers ... ( 10 months ago by misterplumber)
Buderus oil boilers have a three pass flue. They also have an incredibly low stack temperature when used with a Riello burner, and they also work well with the Logomatic controller. They are easy to service.
The Weil Mc Ultra gas is a great boiler, I haven't tried they,re oil boiler yet.
This installation is about five years old, I'm not sure if the Ultra was that good or even around back then.

I have done that in the past on other jobs where the eliminator wasn't so high up and right over the boiler. Space was an issue here. Also in massachusetts the vent for the bfp has to be run as a blow off to within 12" of the floor which means we would have had to run another pipe.
